Physician Organization Formation and Planning When a hospital and physician practice have jointly completed their “Integration Feasibility Assessment” with the assistance of MedGroup Solutions and our team of experts, and both parties have committed to moving forward with the Integration process, the “Physician Organization Formation and Planning” phase begins. During this process MedGroup Solutions and its team of experts and organizations will define financial, structural, governance and other details related to integration. Some of the issues and areas to be addressed in this phase include: - Define planning process, key milestones etc.
- Work with planning committee to consider structural alternatives, governance, financial/compensation and other issues. Consider tax-exempt organization, Stark, Anti-kickback and other legal requirements, capitalization etc. in context of discussion and decision-making. Outline decisions in a brief “white paper”/executive summary for review and consideration by prospective participants.
- Collect data and work with financial management personnel to prepare budget/pro forma, assess reimbursement alternatives, operating costs, compensation structure and other financial details. Coordinate analysis with feasibility assessment consultant, hospital financial management/accounting staff and others as appropriate.
- Define business, structural, operational and financial details related to the integrated system and relationship in sufficient detail to allow for a final go/no go decisions by hospital (including governing board) and physicians.
Once the legal, operational, and financial steps have been completed in forming and planning the new venture or organization, MedGroup Solutions will facilitate and lead the parties through the next phase of “Implementation and Management”. |
